If you've ever wanted to learn the "Sweet Science" of boxing and get yourself into fantastic physical condition, then we have the program for you.

Reisterstown Recreational Boxing is an adult boxing program.  The class will meet three times per week and will focus on conditioning and skill building.  Whether you're sixteen or sixty, first-timer or experienced boxer, experienced boxing trainers will work with you in both a group setting and one-on-one to help you advance to the next level in both fitness and boxing skill.  When you are ready, sparring will be available to those who wish to try out their new skills.

The current session will run from the beginning of May through the end of July.  Class size is currently limited to sixteen students.  Minimum registration age is fifteen.  We will meet on Monday and Wednesday from 6:00-7:00pm for women; 7:00pm - 8pm for men and on Saturdays from 10:30am-12:30pm.  Cost for the three month session is $75.

The goal is to promote an understanding of the events of the American Civil War, its history, especially as it affects Marylanders, and to educate the public regarding the Civil War as living historians. All participants should have an interest in that time period.  The unit is family oriented and offers activities for both children and adults.  Enjoy the simple pleasures of living in the 1860's, camp out in the great outdoors, learn our history first hand, meet fellow living historians, and have a great time. Registration Form

If you are interested in registering, please fill out the registration form and send it to the address provided or turn it in at the next class.

In ancient Sanskrit, the term “Dhanda” means staff or stick. Dhanda is the yoga symbol for the human spine through which Prana (vital energy or Chi) flows. According to ancient yogic tradition, there are vital energy centers, Chakras, along the spine. Various yogic postures are practiced to allow free flow of energy in the body.

Dhanda Yoga uses a staff to assist in performing various asanas (yogic postures). Traditionally the staff was between 3 to 6 feet long. It was made of bamboo, wood, rattan, vine, or root. The staff enhances the alignment and helps maintain a center axis to twist evenly through the spine. This wringing activates all the muscles along the spine including the abdominals which helps squeeze out the stale air and massages the internal organs.

Yoga will be offered Tuesday evenings from 7:00-8:00pm at Glyndon Elementary Recreation Activity Room.  For $25, you may participate in 8 weeks of classes.  Registration is ongoing.  You may try the class out (after signing waiver form) for one class.  Contact Mary Burton for more information.
